Experience the wilderness indoors
Svansele Wilderness Exhibition is not a traditional exhibition. It is a walk through a northern landscape where time stands still, but still feels in motion. An experience with over 650 animals, almost all preserved by the local master Per-Erik, which are placed as in their natural environments. Not arranged, but recreated. A completely unique diorama - but here it is the forest that rules.
You move through seasons and themes: the rest of winter, the flow of spring, the birth of summer, the power struggles of autumn. All the rooms are built from local timber, selected for each environment. You will feel it in the scent.
And in the middle of all this - humans. As hunter, fisherman, gatherer. In some rooms she is invisible, in others her presence is clear through traps, tracks, tools. The story of survival, of living with, and sometimes against, nature. About the barren, hard, beautiful - and what is actually the course of nature.

We welcome groups all year round - associations, companies, bus groups and groups who wants something a little different. It's so much more than just eating and looking around, you will be embraced by an ancient wisdom that encompasses all aspects of life.

Some quick questions
How big groups do you receive?
For the simplest set-up, a combination of lunch and exhibition, groups need to be at least 20 people (during the open days there is no minimum). There is no direct maximum number.
How does guiding work?
For larger groups, we recommend that you go on your own or use the self-guided tour by phone. Some people prefer to watch the film with Thorbjörn where he goes through the exhibition. For smaller groups, around 20, a guided tour works well. Note, however, that this needs to be booked!
How long does it take?
We recommend 2.5 hours for lunch and a tour of the exhibition. Add an extra half hour if you want to watch a film or have a guide.
What will you be serving?
We have a set menu for spring, summer, autumn and winter. In addition, there will be small surprises. If you want, we also serve traditional game board, but at a different price.
Is it accessible?
It is usually no problem at all to experience any part of the exhibition. The threshold to the toilet can be a bit high, but it is usually no problem and we will of course help!
How does it work with times?
We can usually be flexible. Get in touch and we'll work something out.
How far in advance do you need to know participants and special diets?
We usually say 10 days to ensure deliveries.
Can anything else be added?
Of course it is possible. If you want a coffee, a guided tour, a special activity, an overnight stay or whatever it may be, we will do our best to try to accommodate it. We will then send you a quote for you to look through.
